Allegiance on Broadway

Recently I had the pleasure to see a friend’s broadway musical come to life, during the opening week of Allegiance starring social media darling, George Takei. 

Last night backstage at Allegiance. Great seeing @georgehtakei! Go see this incredible untold story, an amazing job by cast & crew! 🌸🇺🇸

Allegiance, a new musical on broadway, was inspired by a true story which follows the Kimura family through a journey that tests their loyalty, freedom and spirit. George stars as the lovable grand father who lights up stage during dull & dire moments the family faces at the internment camp. He also plays the older version of Sam Kimura who is the young & hopeful American born, Japanese America desperate to pledge allegiance to the US during an uncertain time for many. The theme of allegiance tests bonds between family, identity, duty, race & country as people are divided due to circumstance & hard choices. 

I loved this show for many reasons, but one in particular is the relevance it has during our own uncertain times. Everyone delivers, from the amazing cast & crew to the beautiful & creative set design. Congratulations to all involved. Truly extraordinary! Please consider seeing this show. This is an untold story we should not forget.
